1984 - I remembered watching Dune with my older brother when I was younger but could not remember the storyline.1992 - I watched Dune again on LaserDisc at my friend's place but still don't know what it was all about, until I read the novel.
1995 - I rented Dune on videotape and fell asleep when the Navigator was "floating in space".
2004 - I bought the DVD of Dune 3-hour special extended version and realised that it was actually a very weird and disturbed movie, especially when it was about the Harkonnens (cat and mouse anyone?)
Basically, the movie was a sci-fi movie, for normal movie-goers. However, as a Dune fan, I feel that the Dune novel is more than that, and the movie did not and will never live up to the standards of the novel.
