no, they were not looking for their next meal. they were in fact clearing the rubbish that inconsiderate "Ugly Singaporeans" threw in the canal.
these poor chaps are not Singaporeans, but mostly likely "imports" from countries like China, Myanmar, or India, etc, because some Singaporeans are just TOO PROUD to clear their own rubbish!
well, some Singaporeans do clear their own rubbish. they are called "poor".
i wonder if these men also do deep sea rubbish clearing. then they would be called Canal Rubbish Scuba Men!
