when i was at the National Library, there was a Reading Marathon 2009 going on:
apparently, groups of people volunteered to read certain books for 6 hours. then another group of people continued for the next 6 hours and so on. the marathon will end on 9 July 2009. check out the website: http://readsingapore.nlb.gov.sg
